Barefoot Email Servers Down 08/16/2017 [Resolved]

Barefoot email servers were down on 08/16/2017 from approximately 06:00 to 11:00 EDT.

If you are a client using the Barefoot email servers for your outbound mail, you should check on any activity during this time period to identify possible messages that were not sent.

  • Most automated email jobs that run overnight should have sent before the outage.
  • Automated email jobs based on Contract during this time period should be checked.
  • Manually sent emails during this time period should be checked.

If you are sending mail from your own Custom configured SMTP connection.  You can disregard this message, as your email services were not affected.

How do you know if you are sending mail from Barefoot mail servers or your own custom configured SMTP mail server?

Go to Settings-->Email Settings

  1. If your "SMTP Server type" value is set to "Use local SMTP server" you are using Barefoot Mail Servers.
    Or
  2. If your "SMTP Server type" value is set to "Use Remote SMTP server" and the "SMTP user" value is set to "bfmail", then you are using Barefoot Mail servers.

Either of the two above settings would represent that your are sending mail from Barefoot mail servers.
